Upcoming Virtual Sacred Mushroom Circle

Join us for our 3rd virtual Sacred Mushroom circle this Tuesday 4-5 p.m. EST on Zoom. Courtney Murphy, who is a community health researcher, therapist in training, and yoga teacher will be the primary facilitator in this week’s session, leading us through the ins and outs of neuroscience when looking at psilocybin and our brain’s regulations/ dysregulations. As a facilitator for holistic healing, I will be jumping in to share some information on other mushrooms I’ve had personal experience with as well. We will be sharing space for questions, shares, and conversations during our time together. While Courtney and I are teachers, we will always be students. We look forward to sharing our wisdom and gaining insight from all of you, too.

Raised to Forage & Connect With the More than Human World

Where did my passion for mushrooms come from? I’ll give you a little glimpse into where it all started.

Lucky me, I was born in Colorado and raised between West Virginia and Maine. All three states have a rich culture of living with the land. When I was just three years old I went on my first community outing that circled around the love of boating, mushrooms, and hootin’ ‘n hollerin’ for a good time with your pals. We call this trip the “Smoke Hole”. Every early spring, a group of roughly 30-60 West Virginians would pack up their boats for a weekend camping trip in the mountains of Almost Heaven. During the days we’d pull over our boats whenever we saw a group of oak, elm, ash, aspen, or apple trees to go look for one of our most treasured friends; morels. During the night there would be lots of good food, music, fires, trekking under the moonlight, and laughter. My first time was when I saw 3, and the last time was just last year, with some in between. These trips have been a foundational building block in getting deeper into the mushroom community for me (and turned me into a bit of a river rat). If you don’t know what morels are, do your tastebuds a favor and do a bit of research.

Next time I’ll tell you more about the 40-acre off-the-grid homestead my grandparents had, and some of my adventures getting to know the natural world growing up. Plus some cool old-timers and groups who helped me (and still are) learn along the way.

Here’s an Earth Day Toolkit for individuals & every kind of group you can think of.

Archeoastronomy

Because my grandmother has given me SO MUCH wisdom, I wanted to share that she’s published her third book with some of her colleagues. She’s a little over 80, stands on her head, meditates, grows her own food, and takes mushrooms as medicine (if you know what I mean).

Her latest book called “The Myth of the Year: Returning to the Origin of the Druid Calendar” shares an effective and carefully researched path of ancient knowledge viable to the public today as a source of the patterns of the sky, the earth, the moon, and the sun meticulously plotted through eons of ancient knowledge. Travel through the year and learn to keep time as the ancients did by the night sky. Explore the rhythms of the earth through the goddesses and gods of the human imagination on its voyage through time. All proceeds from the book are going to Mago Academy, an international journal of goddess studies.

To find out more about the book or Mago Academy click the cute buttons photo of my Grandma below.

Have a lovely week, and hold on to your britches for the total Solar Eclipse during our New Moon in Aries this Wednesday. Hope to see you on Zoom tomorrow! Chow for now.
